This case study highlights a personal project that I started and is a constant work in progress. The idea behind this website is to highlight my experiences and aspirations by showing off my work. Another aim of this website is to advertise my service offers for potential business collaborations by completing freelance work. This includes website, hosting, design and development; any UX/UI projects; and social media management.
The Process
A Design Thinking 101 was taken during this project and to be straightforward, corners were cut to ensure that the project would be completed as soon as possible. This is not the recommended way to manage and complete a project, however, due to this being a personal endeavour, I felt that it was necessary to be able to get this website out as soon as possible as it is the main hub for all of my work and offerings.
Design
The site was quickly wireframed and designed in Adobe Xd. I decided to choose the light blue and off-white colours to resemble a minimalistic effect. This allowed me to keep all text darker in a grey/black colour and also use any bright accent colours in future designs and pages if desired.
Development
The website was then developed using WordPress and the Elementor plugin. The development involved a mixture of WordPress page development, block development and code development to make the entire site work as cohesive as possible.
Hindrances
There were some hindrances experienced during the project, mainly time management. Getting the website designed, developed and launched proved toughest challenge due to juggle personal hobbies, family commitments and working a full time job. The plan was to get this site launched by June 2024, but it was launched about 2 months later.
Conclusion
Overall, I am elated with how the website has turned out. I really shows my design and working style. It shows the amount of attention to detail that I pay. It will hopefully show off my work ethic and the desire to grow as a personal brand and, hopefully, demonstrate my desire to start my own business in the future.
