Rowles Co LTD Website

This was a small website project that I completed whilst working as a WordPress Developer for Impact IT Solutions. The company is locally based to the office and they were looking to get a new website to create a modern brochure for them. They had an old website that was developed back in 2005 so this was a well needed upgrade. They were also experiencing a lot of spam messages from their contact form on their old site.

The Process

This was only a 4 page site that displayed information about the company and its services just like how a brochure would look. I used the Design Thinking 101 model to create this site, however, due to the company having its own brand the first initial steps were completed swiftly. The main steps in this project were designing and development and then launch.

Design

The design was very straight forward, as mentioned before the company have already got branding, so in terms of colours and logo, I had a head start. I just needed to create a simple site layout that the company recognised. They decided on the simple image and text layout with a gallery as their competitors have the same and they wanted to make that a requirement.

Development

Just like most of my other websites, I used WordPress and the Elementor Builder plugin to create this site. The development went just how I had planned it. I worked closely with the company to ensure that the layout, responsiveness and content were to have they liked it. There were many email exchanges for this to ensure that the site is just right.

Hinderances

Despite the project being simple and the website being relatively small, it didn’t come without hinderances. The main constraint that I experienced when working on this project was the time management and the collaboration with the company. Despite them being very active towards the end of the project, at the start of the project I struggled to make contact with them resulting in the project taking a lot longer to complete than originally pitched. The project was project to take 2 weeks to complete, however with the lack of contact, it ended up taking 8 months. This I did make clear to them and they have learned from this. The next hindrance was during launch, I needed to delay the launch to ensure I had a colleague to help me with the launch so I knew how to do it properly.

Conclusion

To conclude, this was a nice little project to work on and I feel happy to be able to have rebranded and updated their website which was so old that Tony Blair was Prime Minister when it was made. It felt rewarding to say that I have helped with their contact spam issues, they had over 4,400 emails from bots, but now they don’t have any at all. Hopefully, they will be able to run the business smoothly and they have a modern portfolio to display their incredible work.
